Flood Management with SUDS: A Simulation–Optimization Framework

Urbanization and climate change are the main driving force in development of sustainable strategies for managing water cities, such as urban drainage systems (SUDS). Previous studies have identified necessity to develop decision-making tools SUDS order adequately implement these structures. This study proposes a simulation–optimization methodology that aims ease process when selecting placing SUDS, with specific goal flooding. The was applied real case Dresden, Germany. most relevant variables were spatial distribution floods land uses catchment. Furthermore, rainfall characteristics played an important role different configurations.
